Brighton and Hovabion defender Tariq Lamptey expresses optimism about Ghana Black Stars future

Brighton and Hovabion defender Tariq Lamptey is optimistic about the future of the Black Stars despite their unimpressive performance at the 2022 World Cu.

The Ghana Black Stars were eliminated from the 2022 World Cup at the group stage after their defeat to Uruguay.

Ghana needed a win or draw to qualify to the knockout stage of the biggest soccer mundial.

But the West African powerhouse Ghana were unable to negotiate for points against the South American giants, losing 2-0.

Even though the Ghana Black Stars team failed to make it beyond the first round, the young Ghana Black Stars team is already looking forward to making amends in upcoming tournaments.

“Playing in  the world highest level will only make us stronger as a group, the more experiences we have like this, the more it will bring us together,” He told Citi Sports.

“It puts us in a very good place for the future. The boys played really well and obviously we would loved to do well for us, the fans and everyone involved but we will use the experience to keep building.

“We will be working with each other and we will keep trusting each other and hopefully that will put us in a good place for the future.”

Tarig Lamptey is one of the six players who switched nationalities to represent Ghana last year.

Lamptey made two appearances at the tournament in Qatar and his performance was superb.
