REPORTS: Mohammed Salisu and Tariq Lamptey handed Black Stars call up ahead of Kirin Cup tournament

The latest speculations in the indigenous Ghanaian media, state Mohammed Salisu and Tariq Lamptey have both been handed Black Stars call up ahead of the Kirin Cup tournament which starts early next month. The championship is a four team invitational competition which will be held in Japan between four countries including Ghana, host Japan, Tunisia and Chile. According to ace Sports Journalist, Saddick Adam on Floodlight Show on Angel FM in Accra, the names of these two English-based defenders have been included in Ghana's squad and are set to honour the invitation of the GFA after rejecting for quiet a while now. Mohammed Salisu, 23, has given a standout performance so far this season for the Saints, having featured in 35 matches in all competitions, establishing himself as an undisputed starter currently at the St Mary's Park. Also, Tariq Lamptey, 21, despite representing England at youth level, per the reports is now committed to don the Black Stars shirt for the upcoming assignments. He's now made 29 appearances for Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League with two assists to his belt. Ghana will kickoff the competition against the Blue Samurai of Japan, who are the host, on Friday, June 10, 2022 at the Noevir Stadium Kobe, Hyogo.
