Brighton and Hove Albion defender, Tariq Lamptey represented England at youth level but subsequently switched nationality to play for Ghana and has described his experience as an amazing one so far.
The 22 year old debuted for the Black Stars against powerhouse Brazil in a friendly last September in Le Havre- where he was introduced to replace Iddrisu Baba on the 72nd minute and subsequently started against Nicaragua in few days time.
Speaking on the 'Citi Breakfast Show' on Citi FM in Accra, the enterprising right back has expressed excitement for being a part of the current Black Stars squad and has dubbed the feeling to be there as an amazing one and is hopeful they could reach far with the quality in the team.
"It was an amazing experience for me. We have a good team with most of the players playing in Europe and the boys made it easy for me to come to a family environment and we enjoyed it."
"We know where we can get to and I am honestly grateful."
Tariq Lamptey was part of Ghana's squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup where they suffered a group stage eviction and is most likely he will next month's AFCON qualifiers due to injury.
He's made 26 appearances in all competitions this season for Brighton and has a goal and an assist in the just-completed 2022/23 season.
